How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

NFU Energy is looking for an experienced energy professional to manage relationships with key clients and provide proactive, practical and evidence-backed advice across energy procurement, electricity and gas trading strategies, supplier management, compliance and incentive schemes, and wider energy strategy.

NFU Energy works extensively with agricultural and horticultural businesses. You do not need to come directly from the agricultural sector, but you must be interested in understanding our clients, their pressures and their priorities, and be able to provide advice that is relevant to their operating environment.

This is a client-facing advisory role, suited to someone with strong energy industry experience, ideally gained in account management, energy consultancy, procurement, trading, supplier management or a similar role. You will act as a trusted first point of contact for clients, helping them understand market developments, assess purchasing options, manage risk, resolve issues and make timely decisions.

This is not a direct sales role. However, you will be expected to identify opportunities that support client objectives, work with technical colleagues to explore them, and support the Sales team where specialist energy knowledge or client insight is required.

    What you’ll do
    • Manage relationships with a portfolio of key and complex energy clients.
    • Provide proactive, evidence-backed advice to support client energy strategies and business objectives.
    • Advise clients on electricity and gas procurement, trading strategies, purchasing options, contract structures and risk management.
    • Monitor market developments and help clients understand when action may be required.
    • Support clients with contract reviews, renewals and supplier negotiations.
    • Liaise with energy suppliers, brokers, metering providers and other third parties to progress client requirements and resolve issues.
    • Help clients understand relevant energy market, supplier, regulatory and industry developments.
    • Support clients with energy compliance and incentive scheme requirements, including FIT, ROC, REGO, Capacity Market and RHI, with input from internal specialists where required.
    • Work with Technical Delivery and compliance specialists to identify opportunities relating to energy generation, cost reduction, efficiency, compliance and resilience.
    • Coordinate practical issue resolution, ensuring the right internal or external expertise is involved.
    • Support the Sales team with new client opportunities where energy industry knowledge or account insight is required.

    What we’re looking for
    • Strong energy industry experience, ideally in account management, consultancy, procurement, trading, advisory services or a similar client-facing role.
    • Experience advising clients on electricity and gas procurement, trading strategies, purchasing options and risk management.
    • Strong understanding of energy contracts, supplier relationships, wholesale energy markets and market considerations.
    • Experience managing relationships with business clients and multiple stakeholders.
    • Ability to provide clear, practical and evidence-backed advice to support customer decision making.
    • Confidence explaining technical, commercial, market or regulatory information to non-specialist audiences.
    • A proactive approach, with the ability to anticipate client needs, flag risks early, follow up promptly and take ownership of issues.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to resolving client issues.
    • Ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers, technical specialists, compliance specialists, Sales colleagues and internal delivery teams.
    • Strong organisation skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple clients, priorities and deadlines.

    Desirable experience
    • Experience of flexible purchasing or energy trading for larger business users.
    • Gas procurement or gas contract experience.
    • Knowledge of FIT, ROC, REGO, Capacity Market or RHI arrangements.
    • Experience supporting clients with energy-related compliance, incentive or generation scheme requirements.
    • Experience working with large business energy users.
    • Understanding of the agriculture sector, with horticulture experience being a distinct advantage.
    • Experience identifying opportunities relating to energy generation, cost reduction, efficiency, compliance or wider energy strategy.
    • Experience supporting proposals, renewals or new client opportunities from a technical or advisory perspective.

    Why this role matters
Our clients rely on NFU Energy for trusted, timely advice that helps them manage energy risk, control costs, resolve issues and make better long-term decisions.

You will help clients understand their options, act at the right time, access the right expertise and make informed decisions across procurement, trading strategy, supplier management, compliance, incentive schemes, energy generation and wider energy strategy.

You may have experience of the following: Energy Client Account Manager, Business Energy Account Manager, Energy Relationship Manager, Energy Procurement Consultant, Utilities Account Manager, Energy Advisor, Key Account Manager – Energy, Energy Trading Account Manager, Energy Customer Manager, Senior Energy Consultant
