How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Engineering Buyer to join a leading manufacturing business supplying bespoke engineered equipment to customers worldwide.

    This is an ideal role for a Buyer with a background in engineering, manufacturing, industrial machinery, automotive, aerospace or industrial equipment, looking to join a growing organisation where they can make a genuine impact on purchasing strategy, supplier performance and cost reduction.

    Working within a busy engineering environment, you'll be responsible for sourcing technical components and materials, negotiating with suppliers and ensuring the timely delivery of quality products to support manufacturing and project deadlines.

    The Role

    As Engineering Buyer, your responsibilities will include:

    * Purchasing engineered components, raw materials, tooling and technical services.

    * Managing supplier relationships and developing strategic supply partnerships.

    * Obtaining quotations and negotiating competitive pricing, contracts and delivery schedules.

    * Reading engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate procurement.

    * Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to meet manufacturing requirements.

    * Identifying cost-saving opportunities through supplier development, alternative sourcing and value engineering.

    * Monitoring supplier performance, lead times, quality and delivery.

    * Resolving supply chain issues and minimising production downtime.

    * Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) by sourcing prototype components and managing supplier involvement.

    * Maintaining accurate purchasing data using ERP/MRP systems.

    * Ensuring procurement activities comply with company procedures and industry standards.

    About You

    To be successful, you'll ideally have:

    * Previous experience as an Engineering Buyer, Technical Buyer, Manufacturing Buyer, Procurement Engineer or Senior Buyer.

    * Experience purchasing technical or engineered products within a manufacturing environment.

    * A solid understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and Bills of Materials.

    * Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.

    * Experience using ERP/MRP systems.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

    * A proactive approach to supplier management and continuous improvement.

    Desirable

    * HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or a related discipline.

    * CIPS qualification (or studying towards).

    * Experience with strategic sourcing and supplier development.

    * Knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing compliance requirements
