How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    English Teacher – Alternative Provision (September 2026 Start)
    Are you an English Teacher looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference? This outstanding Alternative Provision in South Birmingham is seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join its team from September 2026.
    This is an exciting opportunity to work with secondary-aged students who require a more personalised approach to education. Many students have faced barriers to learning and may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, but with the right support and guidance they are capable of achieving exceptional outcomes.

    The school is led by an inspirational Headteacher who has created a positive, nurturing and ambitious culture for both staff and students. Teachers benefit from small class sizes, excellent behaviour support, a collaborative staff team and a healthy work-life balance, allowing them to focus on delivering outstanding teaching and supporting student progress.

    As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons that develop literacy skills, build confidence and inspire students to succeed. You will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors and pastoral staff who work together to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

    The Role:

    Teaching English Language and Literature to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
    Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to small classes
    Supporting students with SEMH needs and barriers to learning
    Building positive relationships that encourage engagement and achievement
    Preparing students for GCSE examinations and future pathways
    Monitoring progress and implementing effective intervention strategies
    Working closely with pastoral teams and support staff
    Contributing to a positive and inclusive school cultureThe Successful Candidate Will Have:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Experience teaching English at secondary level
    Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
    The ability to engage and inspire students who may have become disengaged from education
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
