How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you a Team Leader looking to make a meaningful career change? Have you considered working with young people in schools but want classroom experience before committing to teacher training? Vision for Education is offering an exciting opportunity to step into secondary education as a Cover Supervisor in Northumberland and the surrounding areas.

This role is perfect for team leaders, sports coaches, graduates, or anyone with leadership experience who wants to explore a rewarding career in education while supporting students across KS3 and KS4.

    About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

Lead classes of 25–30 pupils in the absence of the class teacher
Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of secondary subjects
Maintain classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment
Take accurate registers and follow school policies
Provide feedback to teaching staff at the end of lessons
You do not need to be a subject specialist. All lesson plans and materials are provided, allowing you to focus on engagement, classroom management, and supporting student learning.

For those new to education, Vision for Education provides a Cover Supervisor Training Programme, designed to boost confidence, teach classroom management skills, and explain safeguarding and school procedures.

    This opportunity is tailored for:

Team Leaders seeking a career change into education
Graduates interested in exploring teaching and classroom support
Sports coaches, youth workers, and mentors experienced in leading groups
Individuals looking for flexible, entry-level education roles
Anyone wanting to gain experience in secondary schools before pursuing teacher training
    Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

Proven leadership experience in teams, coaching, or group management
    Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, positive, and reliable approach
A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
Eligibility to work in the UK and a valid DBS (or willingness to apply)
    What Vision for Education Offers

Competitive daily rates, paid weekly via PAYE
Guaranteed Pay Scheme (subject to availability)
Access to CPD and Cover Supervisor training
    Pension contributions
    Social and networking events
Dedicated consultant support to guide your progression into education
