How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role Overview

A London‑centric Building Inspector role with a strong residential workload (80%) and a smaller commercial element (20%). The position suits inspectors who enjoy varied site work, technical problem‑solving and working closely with contractors and design teams across London's fast‑paced built environment.

    Residential Responsibilities (80%)

Inspect new‑build homes, extensions, and loft conversions across London and the Home Counties.

Assess compliance with building regulations and approved documents.

Produce clear inspection notes and maintain accurate digital records.

Liaise with homeowners, contractors, architects and developers to resolve compliance issues.

Identify defects, risks and non‑compliance, offering practical, solution‑focused guidance.

    Commercial Responsibilities (20%)

Inspect shops, retail units and larger commercial buildings within Class 2D scope.

Review plans for structural, fire safety, accessibility and energy compliance.

Support senior inspectors on more complex commercial schemes.

    Skills & Experience

Registered Building Inspector - Class 2A or Class 2D.

Strong understanding of building regulations across residential and commercial sectors.

Experience conducting site inspections and producing clear, structured reports.

Ability to interpret architectural, structural and technical drawings.

Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.

Organised, proactive and comfortable managing a varied London‑based workload.

    Desirable Attributes

Experience with complex residential or mixed‑use projects.

    Familiarity with digital inspection/reporting systems.

A proactive, solutions‑driven approach to regulatory interpretation.

Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

    Training & Development

Class 2A inspectors enrolled onto Class 2D training (Total Training).

Structured CPD pathways aligned with long‑term sustainability goals.

Opportunities to progress into higher‑risk or specialist categories.

A culture that prioritises technical excellence and personal growth.
