How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Civil Design Engineer | Water AMP 8

    Contract: Long‑term, Outside IR35
    Location: Tunbridge Wells, Kent (Flexible Hybrid)

    Our client, a leading contractor in the UK water and civil engineering sector, is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join their growing design team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions across water and wastewater projects, while developing your technical expertise within a collaborative environment. Flexible hybrid working is available, with some presence required at the Tunbridge Wells office.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support the delivery of civil design packages across multiple projects
    Assist in coordinating and reviewing designs to ensure compliance with project and regulatory standards
    Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers
    Collaborate with external consultants and clients as required
    Contribute to all stages of project delivery, including: Feasibility studies Detailed design Construction support Support design reviews, risk assessments, and technical documentation
    Ensure designs are practical, safe, and cost-effective

    Skills & Experience Required

    Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
    Experience in a civil design role, ideally within infrastructure, water, or wastewater projects
    Understanding of civil engineering standards and construction methods
    Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or similar
    Exposure to BIM processes is advantageous Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
