How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    M&E Project Manager - Award Winning Business

    Location: Essex / London
    Salary: Competitive + Package (DOE) up to £70k

    About the Role

    Hawkes Recruitment is working with a well-established Mechanical & Electrical contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced M&E Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of multiple mechanical and electrical projects from award through to completion.

    This position will suit someone with strong project delivery experience who can manage programmes, subcontractors, commercial aspects and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    - Project Delivery

    - Take ownership of M&E projects from pre-start through to final handover.

    - Develop and manage project programmes to ensure deadlines and milestones are achieved.

    - Coordinate subcontractors, labour, suppliers and materials.

    - Ensure project information is communicated effectively to engineers and site teams.

    - Carry out regular site visits to monitor progress, quality and programme.

    - Identify project risks, delays and issues early and implement corrective action.

    Maintain accurate project records and reporting throughout delivery.

    Commercial Management

    - Understand project scope, specifications and contractual obligations.

    - Identify and manage variations and additional works.

    - Obtain quotations and submit variation pricing to clients.

    - Monitor project costs and track budget performance.

    - Assist with forecasting project financial performance.

    - Review subcontractor applications and supplier invoices.

    - Prepare payment applications in line with contractual requirements.

    Procurement & Resource Planning

    - Procure materials, plant and subcontractors in line with programme requirements.

    - Identify long lead items and ensure early procurement.

    - Coordinate deliveries to minimise delays and disruption.

    - Ensure labour resources are available to maintain project programmes.

    Technical & Design Coordination

    - Review drawings and specifications prior to works commencing.

    - Coordinate technical and design information where required.

    - Raise RFIs when clarification is required.

    - Ensure only approved drawings are issued for construction.

    - Coordinate commissioning activities and testing processes.

    Health & Safety

    - Ensure projects comply with all Health & Safety legislation and procedures.

    - Review RAMS and ensure safe working practices are followed.

    - Carry out regular site safety inspections.

    - Monitor subcontractor compliance.

    - Report incidents, accidents and near misses where required.

    - Ensure permits, inspections and certifications are completed correctly.

    Quality Assurance

    - Monitor installation quality throughout project lifecycle.

    - Carry out quality inspections during construction phases.

    - Ensure defects are identified and rectified promptly.

    - Deliver projects with minimal snagging and high quality standards.

    - Ensure commissioning documentation and O&M manuals are completed prior to handover.

    Client Management

    - Act as main point of contact for allocated projects.

    - Attend progress meetings with clients and consultants.

    - Provide regular project updates and reporting.

    - Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

    - Resolve issues professionally and efficiently.

    Requirements

    We are looking for candidates with:

    Previous experience as an M&E Project Manager

    Strong Mechanical & Electrical project delivery background

    Experience managing subcontractors and site teams

    Commercial awareness including variations and project budgets

    Strong understanding of construction Health & Safety requirements

    Experience managing projects through full lifecycle delivery

    Excellent communication and client management skills

    Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines
