How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Supervisor – Devonport Docks, Plymouth

    Location: Devonport Docks, Plymouth

    Position: Supervisor

    Type: Contract

    Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Supervisor to join a major project at Devonport Docks. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile programme of works within a secure and safety-critical environment.

    We are seeking a hands-on Supervisor with a strong background in construction, engineering, marine, or industrial environments who can lead site operations safely and efficiently while ensuring works are delivered to programme and quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervise and coordinate daily site activities.

    Manage operatives and subcontractors on site.

    Ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with approved RAMS.

    Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.

    Monitor productivity, quality, and programme performance.

    Maintain accurate site records and reports.

    Liaise with site management, engineers, and client representatives.

    Promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture at all times.

    Essential Requirements

    Previous experience working as a Supervisor on construction, infrastructure, marine, or industrial projects.

    IRATA Rope Access Certification (current and valid).

    Level 3 Confined Space Certification (current and valid).

    SSSTS or SMSTS.

    Strong understanding of HSEQ requirements within a safety-critical environment.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.

    Desirable

    Experience working on MOD, dockyard, marine, or heavy civils projects.

    First Aid at Work qualification.

    Temporary Works or lifting operations experience.

    Relevant trade or engineering background.
