How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Behaviour Teaching Assistant
    Location: Birmingham
    Start Date: ASAP
    Salary: £95 - £110 per day

    Do you have experience managing challenging behaviour and building positive relationships with students?

    Are you looking for a rewarding Behaviour Teaching Assistant role within a supportive Pupil Referral Unit?

    TeacherActive is proud to be working with a well-established Pupil Referral Unit in Birmingham, which operates across seven campuses throughout the city. The provision supports Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students who require additional behavioural and emotional support, providing a structured, inclusive environment where young people are encouraged to re-engage with education and achieve their full potential.

    The school is looking to appoint a Behaviour Teaching Assistant on both long-term and short-term assignments with an immediate start available. The successful Behaviour Teaching Assistant will support students both inside and outside of the classroom, helping to manage behaviour, promote engagement with learning and provide consistent encouragement to students who may present with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or have experienced barriers to education.

    The successful Behaviour Teaching Assistant will have:

    • Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
    • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar support role
    • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships quickly
    • A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting young people
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • A proactive, positive attitude and willingness to support across KS3 and KS4
