How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Austin Dean Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of Kent County Council for compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join its Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking (UAS) Children's Service.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable young people who have arrived in the UK without parents or carers. You will help create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where children can settle, develop independence, access education and healthcare, learn English and prepare for a positive future.

    Working as part of a professional team, you will provide high-quality care while ensuring the home operates in line with Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted requirements and safeguarding legislation.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children living within the home.

    * Build positive, trusting relationships that promote wellbeing and independence.

    * Support children to attend education, health and other professional appointments.

    * Plan and participate in meaningful educational, recreational and life-skills activities.

    * Maintain accurate and timely records using electronic care systems.

    * Work closely with managers, social workers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

    * Complete safeguarding and incident reports where required.

    * Attend handovers, supervision sessions, team meetings and training.

    * Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and children's rights at all times.

    * Assist with the day-to-day running of the home, including meal preparation and household tasks where required.

    Essential Requirements

    * GCSEs (or equivalent) or NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.

    * Full UK Driving Licence.

    * Experience working within a children's residential care environment.

    * Knowledge of safeguarding, child development and children's legislation.

    * Understanding of Ofsted standards and Children's Homes Regulations.

    * Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    * Flexible to work a rota including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

    What We're Looking For

    We're looking for caring, resilient and motivated individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable young people. You will be compassionate, professional, emotionally resilient and committed to providing outstanding care while promoting equality, dignity and respect for every child.

    What You'll Receive

    * Weekly Pay

    * Flexible shifts

    * A supportive and experienced management team.

    * The opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's lives every day.

    Safeguarding

    This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, Right to Work checks and all safer recruitment requirements. Kent County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
