How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Design Engineer - Test Facilities

    Location: Peterborough (Onsite)
    Pay Rate: £38.49 per hour (£307.92 per day Inside IR335)
    Duration: 12-Month Contract - Highly likely to extend

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation in Peterborough on an initial 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative engineering projects supporting the development of new products within a specialist Test Facilities Engineering team.

    Working on bespoke mechanical designs rather than production components, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support engine testing and development programmes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design bespoke mechanical components, assemblies and test equipment.
    Support engine test facilities through the design of rigging systems, driveline components and mechanical equipment.
    Produce 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and engineering calculations.
    Take designs from concept through design reviews, customer feedback and into manufacture.
    Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust engineering solutions.
    Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes and future facility developments.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Strong mechanical engineering background.
    Previous experience using Creo and Teamcenter.
    Excellent understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
    Experience producing engineering calculations.
    Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.

    Desirable Experience

    Engine test facilities or development environments.
    Automotive, aerospace or heavy engineering industries.
    Knowledge of driveline systems and vibration analysis.
    Engine knowledge (beneficial but not essential).
