How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Health & Safety Manager

    Location: Upminster, Essex
    Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a well-established specialist services business operating across London and the South East. This is a pivotal role for someone who is passionate about creating a positive safety culture and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and compliance across a diverse operational environment.

    Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the company's health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation while supporting the business's continued growth.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Lead the company's health, safety and compliance strategy across multiple operational sites.

    * Ensure the business remains fully compliant with current UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

    * Develop, review and implement health and safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work.

    * Carry out regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

    * Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions.

    * Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks and guidance to managers and employees.

    * Support contract managers and operational teams with day-to-day health and safety advice.

    * Monitor contractor compliance and ensure high standards are maintained across all projects.

    * Maintain accurate health and safety records and prepare reports for senior management.

    * Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the business, encouraging employee engagement and continuous improvement.

    About You

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    * Previous experience as a Health & Safety Manager within a facilities management, engineering, building services or specialist services environment.

    * Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.

    * Experience carrying out audits, inspections and accident investigations.

    * Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.

    * A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to influence and drive positive change.

    * NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent) is highly desirable.

    * A full UK driving licence.
