How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Youth Worker
    Experience in SEMH

    September start date

We are seeking dedicated Youth Workers to join our team at a specialist provision in Caerphilly supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This setting provides education and support for young people aged 5–16, offering a nurturing environment where pupils can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and help them achieve their full potential.

    Key Responsibilities:

    *

Build positive and meaningful relationships with pupils based on trust, consistency, and respect.

    *

Support the delivery of individual education and behaviour support plans.

    *

Encourage engagement in learning activities and promote positive behaviour strategies.

    *

Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience.

    *

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, families, and external agencies to provide consistent support.

    *

Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, maintaining accurate and confidential records.

    *

Provide pastoral support and intervention when pupils become dysregulated or require additional support.

    *

Promote and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

    About You:

    *

Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs, is desirable.

    *

A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

    *

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team.

    *

A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

    *

Relevant qualifications in youth work, education, psychology, health and social care, or related fields are desirable, although full training will be provided.

    We Offer:

    *

Full-time and part-time opportunities with flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

    *

A rewarding and varied working environment where no two days are the same.

    *

Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

    *

The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people with SEMH needs.

    *

Competitive pay rates of approximately £14.23 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

If you are looking for a rewarding career where you can make a real difference, we would love to hear from you. Bring your passion and dedication to a role that offers both challenge and reward while helping young people achieve positive outcomes.

    To Apply

Please submit your CV along with a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and your interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates
