How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    English Teaching Assistant

    Location: Greenwich 
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Full-Time | Term Time Only
    Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

    Education Matters Group is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Greenwich from September 2026.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching.
    The Role As an English Teaching Assistant, you will:

    Support students in English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with opportunities to support Key Stage 5 where appropriate).
    Deliver targeted interventions to improve reading, writing and literacy skills.
    Provide one-to-one and small group support to students requiring additional assistance.
    Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
    Help motivate students to achieve their full academic potential.
    Contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment. Essential Requirements
    A Bachelor's degree in English or a closely related subject is essential.
    A genuine passion for English Language and Literature.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
    The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
    Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential. The Ideal Candidate
    Holds an English degree (2:2 or above preferred).
    Is considering a career in teaching or education.
    Is enthusiastic, patient and proactive.
    Has a passion for supporting young people to succeed academically.
