How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is an award winning manufacturer that is going from strength to strength, they are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. Your role will be to lead the conceptual and detailed mechanical design of bespoke Acoustic Containers, Switchgear Enclosures, Data Centre Cooling Products and associated systems. You will work to deliver innovative, manufacturable and commercially viable engineering solutions from concept through to production.

    The role is embedded within the early concept and design stages of product development, contributing engineering expertise from project inception through to manufacturing release. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, external customers and suppliers to ensure designs achieve the required balance of performance, manufacturability, quality, cost and customer expectations.

    Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.

    Hours of work: Monday – Thursday, 8.30am – 5.00pm, and Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm.

    Location: Bradford, fully office based.

    PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE MAJORITY OF THESE REQUIREMENTS:

    * Advanced user knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Vault software.

    * You will have a degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

    * Strong engineering judgement with the ability to balance technical, commercial and manufacturing requirements.

    * Significant experience in mechanical design engineering within a fabrication, heavy assembly or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.

    * Experience of designing large, fabricated structures, enclosures or engineered systems.

    * Good knowledge of product development.

    * Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, sheet metal and assembly techniques.

    * Experience producing detailed engineering drawings, Bills of Materials and manufacturing documentation.

    * Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.

    * Microsoft Office skills are essential.

    Responsibilities:

    * Lead and contribute to concept generation, product development and detailed mechanical design activities.

    * Participate in design reviews, feasibility studies and technical discussions during the early stages of projects.

    * Assess design concepts for manufacturability, cost, usability, serviceability and technical risk.

    * Produce and develop high-quality 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor and associated systems.

    * Generate General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials and supporting technical documentation.

    * Support technical and commercial teams during project development by providing engineering input and design solutions.

    * Liaise with Manufacturing, Operations and Procurement teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient and aligned with production capabilities.

    * Identify and resolve design issues at the earliest possible stage to minimise downstream rework and project risk.

    * Act as a technical authority for mechanical design decisions within assigned projects, ensuring solutions align with customer requirements, company standards, manufacturing capabilities and commercial objectives.

    * Provide technical guidance, support and mentoring to Design Engineers, CAD Engineers and other colleagues as appropriate, promoting best practice and continuous development across the design function.

    * Contribute to research and development activities, continuous improvement initiatives and standardisation projects.

    * Ensure all work is undertaken in compliance with company design, safety, quality and environmental procedures.

    * Attend customer meetings, supplier visits and site visits as required.
