How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

This pioneering company is on a mission to transform the UK’s drone technology landscape and is already making significant strides in advancing next-generation UAV systems. From cutting-edge flight control electronics to high-performance airborne platforms, they are redefining what’s possible in the drone space.

As they accelerate development of their drone platforms, they are expanding their Embedded Software team and seeking ambitious Senior Embedded Software Engineers to play a critical role in shaping the future of their airborne systems.

Salaries range from £60,000 (3 years’ experience) to £140,000 for more experienced engineers, alongside relocation support and serious equity - reflecting their commitment to attracting top-tier talent.

This is a rare opportunity to make an immediate impact on real-world UAV technology, remaining hands-on with development while helping define the embedded software architecture of a company scaling at pace in a high-growth sector.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer essential requirements:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in embedded software development
Strong proficiency in C/C++ (Rust beneficial)
Experience developing software for resource-constrained or real-time systems
Proactive, collaborative mindset with strong ownership of projects
Resident in the UK for at least 5 years
Senior Embedded Software Engineer desirable Skills

Experience working in start-ups or scale-ups, particularly fast-paced R&D environments
Experience leading projects or mentoring junior engineers
Embedded Linux or RTOS (e.g. FreeRTOS, Zephyr) experience
Device drivers, low-level hardware interfacing, and board bring-up
Real-time systems, multi-threading, and performance optimisation
Sensor integration (IMUs, cameras, GPS) and data processing pipelines
Communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet)
Wireless communication stacks and telemetry systems
Familiarity with control systems, flight software, or robotics
CI/CD, testing, and debugging on embedded targets
    Salary description

    £60000.00 - £140000.00 per year
