How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client is a well-established materials testing laboratory based in Aberdeen, providing mechanical and corrosion testing, chemical analysis and metallurgical examination to clients across various sectors. As demand for their services continues to grow, they're looking for a motivated individual to join their laboratory team as a technician.

**Due to it initially being a contract, our client need someone who is already local to Aberdeen- onsite one stage interview required**

    • Following strict health, safety and quality procedures within a laboratory setting
    • Working closely with the wider technical team to support testing schedules and turnaround times

    What We Are Looking For
    • A degree in a science-related subject is preferred but not essential - we welcome applications from graduates and those with relevant practical or laboratory experience
    • A genuine interest in science, engineering or materials testing
    • Comfortable working with large machinery and equipment in a laboratory environment
    • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to following procedures and specifications
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills
    • Willingness to learn and develop within a technical role

    What is on offer
    • Hands-on training in a specialist materials testing laboratory
    • A genuine route to a permanent role for the right candidate
    • The chance to build practical, transferable laboratory skills from day one
    • Be part of a team supporting clients across the energy, power generation, aerospace and defence sectors

    How to Apply
If you're a science graduate, or have a keen interest in science and hands-on technical work, and you're looking to start your career within materials testing, we would love to hear from you.
