How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title - Learning Development Mentor (Sixth Form)Location - SEN setting Close to Rye
    Hours - Full time, 8:30am - 5pm (30 min unpaid break)

    Are you passionate about helping young people with dyslexia and Specific Learning Difficulties thrive academically, socially, and personally? An independent specialist school is seeking a committed Learning Development Mentor to support Sixth Form students across its main site and partner college locations.This is a rewarding role within a unique educational environment that supports students with Dyslexia and co-occurring SpLDs. You'll play a key part in helping learners develop independence, confidence, and the skills they need for their next steps.

    Your new role

    As a Learning Development Mentor, you will:

    Provide one-to-one and small-group support to Sixth Form students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop independence."Support students with Dyslexia and SpLDs… and deliver academic support… to help them learn as effectively as possible."
    Deliver English and Maths tutoring, including GCSE resit preparation and Functional Skills development."To deliver Maths and English tutoring to support GCSE resits and the development of functional skills."
    Lead study skills sessions, mentoring programmes, and small-group work focused on independence and life skills.
    Support students both on-site and at partner colleges during lessons, study periods, and social times.
    Contribute to the wider life of a busy independent boarding school community.
    Provide feedback, maintain records, contribute to reviews, and support the use of assistive technology.
    Promote wellbeing, inclusion, positive behaviour, and strong attendance.
    Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff, acting as a consistent and approachable presence.
    What you'll need to succeed

    Essential:

    A-Levels (or higher)
    GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4+)
    Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
    Understanding of Dyslexia and SpLDs
    Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
    A calm, professional, and resilient approach
    Commitment to inclusion and high expectations for all learnersDesirable:

    Degree-level study
    Dyslexia/SpLD training or qualifications
    Experience delivering English/Maths interventions
    Coaching or mentoring experience
    Knowledge of assistive technology
    Familiarity with UCAS processes
