How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    DevOps Engineer

    £675 P/D Inside IR35

    4 months with scope to extend

    Hybrid - 1/2 days on site per week in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Darlington, Edinburgh, Manchester or London (emote working is a possibility for the right candidate.)

    Overview

    We're looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a multidisciplinary government team, supporting the delivery and operation of complex internal platforms.
    This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can contribute from day one, with strong experience across AWS, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. The team is looking for an engineer who champions automation and modern DevOps practices rather than relying on manual infrastructure management.

    Key Responsibilities

    Build and maintain cloud infrastructure within AWS environments
    Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
    Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
    Deploy and manage containerised workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, and ideally EKS
    Work closely with engineers, analysts, and product teams to support delivery of complex platforms
    Write clear technical documentation, tickets, and progress updates
    Identify and resolve technical issues while promoting engineering best practices
    Ensure security, IAM, and access control considerations are embedded into platform designWhat We're Looking For

    Strong hands-on experience with:

    AWS
    Terraform
    Kubernetes (EKS desirable)
    Docker
    ECS
    GitHub Actions / CI/CD
    Proven experience delivering Infrastructure as Code in production environments
    Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, and access management
    Experience working on complex enterprise or government platforms
    Excellent communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
    Comfortable working independently and contributing to technical decision-makingIdeal Background

    3+ years' experience as a:

    DevOps Engineer
    Cloud Engineer
    Infrastructure Engineer

    Experience supporting internal platforms, analytical platforms, or data platforms
    Government experience desirable but not essential

    Hands-on DevOps Engineer required to support AWS-based government platforms, with strong expertise across Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code. This is a technical delivery role for someone who can hit the ground running and champion modern cloud engineering practices
