How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a varied and rewarding role within a community-focused organisation?

    Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management and administration. This is a unique opportunity to combine finance, governance, administration, and community engagement within a well-established organisation that plays an important role in the local area.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the finances, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, supporting meetings, and overseeing various operational and administrative functions.

    This position would suit someone with previous experience in finance, bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or business administration who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in delivering accurate and professional support.

    What You'll Be Doing

    āœ” Managing all day-to-day financial operations, including payments, receipts, banking, and reconciliations

    āœ” Preparing budgets, financial reports, quarterly management accounts, and year-end financial information

    āœ” Maintaining accurate accounting records and preparing documentation for internal and external audits

    āœ” Managing VAT returns, payroll, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other financial obligations

    āœ” Monitoring budgets and providing financial information to support decision-making

    āœ” Maintaining the asset register and financial records

    āœ” Preparing agendas, reports, and supporting documentation for meetings

    āœ” Attending meetings and producing accurate minutes and records of decisions

    āœ” Managing correspondence, emails, telephone enquiries, and requests

    āœ” Liaising with contractors, suppliers, local authorities, and members of the public

    āœ” Coordinating maintenance schedules, inspections, bookings, and contractor activities

    āœ” Maintaining policies, records, website content, and social media communications

    āœ” Supporting compliance with statutory requirements including Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation

    āœ” Assisting with election administration, governance matters, and general Council operations

    What We're Looking For

    šŸ’” Previous experience within Finance, Bookkeeping, Accounts, Payroll, or a similar financial administration role

    šŸ’” Strong understanding of financial processes, budgeting, reconciliations, and reporting

    šŸ’” Experience preparing information for audits and maintaining accurate financial records

    šŸ’” Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

    šŸ’” Strong organisational and time management skills

    šŸ’” Confident communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with a wide range of stakeholders

    šŸ’” Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

    šŸ’” Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work independently
