How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new company
You will be joining a multi-accredited and well-established contractor operating in the highways industry. This high-profile contractor has a strong reputation for delivering projects valued between £1m-£9m for National Highways and multiple local authorities and offers a strong pipeline of work as well as excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. As part of their continued growth, they are actively seeking a Planner to join their team.

This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Brentwood office with hybrid and flexible working.

    Your new role
As a Planner, you will be a key contributor to the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, with responsibilities including:

Producing, developing and maintaining construction programmes from first principles using works information and drawings
Managing and updating short-term and long-term programmes to reflect progress, change and risk
Leading on daily scheduling and planning activities to support efficient project delivery
Working closely with site teams to understand construction methodologies and sequencing
Supporting the commercial team by substantiating change, ensuring robust records and supporting evidence are maintained
Contributing to NEC contract processes, including early warnings, impacted programmes and Clause 62 assessments
Identifying potential delays and risks, proposing mitigation measures to protect programme outcomes
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on programme, progress and key milestones
Utilising Primavera P6 to manage and report programme performance.
    What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must bring:

Experience as a Planner within the highways industry, ideally from a subcontractor/Tier 2 background
In-depth knowledge of civil works: drainage, kerbing, motorway technology, street lighting and traffic signals
    Proficiency in Primavera P6
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    Full UK driving licence.
    What you'll get in return
    In return, you will receive:

Starting salary up to £60,000 per annum
Company car (with fuel card) or car allowance
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
    Pension
Hybrid working (2-3 days' remote per week) and flexible working hours
    Life assurance
    Multiple health and wellbeing benefits
Exposure to high-profile and rewarding projects
    Supportive and collaborative work environment
Clear pathways for professional development and career progression
Opportunity to advance your career with an industry-leading contractor and more.
