How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking an IT Support Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role is based at their Head Office in Buckinghamshire and will involve providing first- and second-line technical support to ensure the smooth operation of IT services within the organisation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide first- and second-line support for incidents and service requests via the IT service management system.
    Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues across desktop and laptop environments.
    Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
    Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Teams and Exchange Online mailboxes.
    Build, configure, and deploy Windows desktop devices in line with company standards.
    Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning and equipment setup.
    Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or third-party vendors where required.
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of incidents, solutions, and system configurations.
    Contribute to service improvement initiatives, automation opportunities, and knowledge base development.
    Support IT projects and infrastructure changes as required.

    Job Requirements:

    Experience in IT support roles, providing both 1st and 2nd line support.
    Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems (Windows 11), including configuration and troubleshooting.
    Experience administering and supporting Windows Active Directory.
    Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Teams and Exchange Online.
    Understanding of endpoint management principles (e.g., Intune, device configuration, patching).
    Good understanding of basic networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN connectivity).
    Familiarity with IT service management tools and incident handling processes.
    Ability to follow structured troubleshooting methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.
    Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
    Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
