How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Electrical and/or Mechanical qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)

    * Previous experience working with electrical and mechanical systems

    * Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills

    * Full UK driving licence

    * Comfortable dealing directly with customers

    * Basic IT skills including Word, Excel and service reporting systems

    * Flexible approach to travel and occasional overnight stays

    * Reliable, self-motivated and willing to learn

    Desirable

    * Previous Field Service Engineer experience

    * Experience working with machinery, manufacturing equipment or automation systems

    * Installation and commissioning experience

    Travel

    The role involves regular travel throughout the UK and Ireland. Overnight stays will be required and are usually planned in advance, although occasional short-notice travel may be needed for urgent breakdowns.

    Accommodation, meals, company van, fuel card, tools, mobile phone and tablet are all provided.

    Package

    * £35,000 - £40,000 basic salary depending on experience

    * Overtime available with realistic earnings of £45,000 - £50,000+

    * Company van and fuel card

    * Mobile phone and tablet

    * Tools provided

    * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

    * On-site parking

    If you're looking for a varied field service role with a good amount of autonomy and the opportunity to work across a range of machinery and customer sites, we'd like to hear from you.
