How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Health & Safety Advisor | Oxford | £42,794 + 14.5% pension + 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + benefits

Are you a proactive Health & Safety professional looking for a role that offers genuine variety, purpose and influence?

Our client is one of the world's most recognisable institutions, combining a historic college, cathedral, independent school, visitor attraction, residential accommodation and commercial operations within a unique and diverse estate. We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to help shape and strengthen safety culture across this extraordinary environment.

No two days are the same. From centuries-old, listed buildings and student accommodation to busy catering operations, public events, worship spaces, sports facilities and visitor attractions, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, managing risk and supporting safe operations across multiple sites.

    Key skills

    * NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)

    * Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH, IIRSM)

    * Significant experience in a complex, multi-use organisation.

    * Strong working knowledge of legislation and compliance requirements.

    * Experience conducting audits and investigations.

    * Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.

    * Strong organisational and report-writing skills.

    * Ability to work sensitively within a historic and ecclesiastical environment.

Working closely with senior leaders, managers and external partners, you will provide expert advice on health and safety, fire safety, food safety and wider regulatory compliance. You'll lead audits and inspections, support risk assessments, oversee compliance systems and help drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a health and safety professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive change and working in a complex operational environment where your expertise will have visible impact.

This is a full-time, permanent role working 09:00-17:00, Mon-Fri based at between sites in central Oxford and offers an attractive benefits package including 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, membership of the USS pension scheme (14.5% employer / 6.1% employee), free lunches, staff social events and the opportunity for some hybrid working once established in the role.

If you're looking for a rewarding position within one of Oxford's most iconic institutions, we'd love to hear from you
