How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new role

    Hays Education are looking for a school business support officer with finance experience to join our friendly and professional school team based in Preston. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the setting's financial records, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and standards.

    This is a school business support job with a part-time job (five mornings a week), term time only, on an ongoing temporary basis starting ASAP for a few weeks initially, this may extend into September. School experience is essential for this role and previous experience of the school finance systems and a DBS on the update service would be preferred.

    Duties may include:

    Answering telephone calls and managing messages with courtesy and discretion.
    Supporting visitors to the school as a point of contact within the main office when required.
    Supporting day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, banking and ensuring compliance.
    Auditing accounts and ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
    Supporting the senior business leaders with budget planning and monitoring
    Managing correspondence, including drafting and distributing letters and emails.
    Adhering to school policies relating to health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection.What you'll need to succeed

    Previous experience in a school finance environment is essential for this role.
