How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Wymondley 400kV Substation, Hertfordshire
    Rate: £500 per day (subject to review when stepping into SR163 Site Manager role)
    Contract Type: Full-time, site-based, contract
    Duration: 6-month (part of an 18-month programme - high probability of extension)
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 10-hour days with occasional weekends
    IR35 Status: Outside IR35

    MRR Infrastructure is supporting the delivery of a major 400kV substation build as part of the UK’s National Grid transmission infrastructure. This global engineering-led consultancy is a key delivery partner across multiple National Grid frameworks, known for its safety-first approach and commitment to technical quality.

    We are seeking an experienced M&E Manager to lead the mechanical and electrical workstreams on site. This position will initially support the Site Manager in day-to-day delivery and supervision, with the expectation to step into the SR163 Site Manager role as the project progresses.

    This is a critical, high-visibility role requiring hands-on coordination of subcontractors, proactive oversight of compliance and programme progress, and a focus on delivering to National Grid’s standards of safety, quality and reporting.

    Essential Qualifications & Experience:

    *

    Extensive experience on National Grid transmission projects

    *

    National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8)

    *

    SSSTS, SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely

    *

    CSCS Supervisor and First Aid trained

    *

    CITB Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator

    *

    HSG47 and Impressed Voltage awareness

    *

    Strong background in electrical supervision within the T&D sector

    *

    Previous SR163 or TP137 appointment

    Desirable:
    HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, formal electrical training, IOSH Environmental or equivalent
