How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    EC&I Engineer

Shape the future of sustainable energy – join a leading Energy from Waste facility in the UK

As EC&I Engineer, you’ll lead the technical delivery of all electrical, controls, and instrumentation activities while driving continuous improvement across the plant. This is more than an engineering role; it’s an opportunity to contribute to sustainability, circular economy solutions, and the UK’s journey to net zero. Whether you’re an experienced professional or looking to grow your leadership impact, you’ll be supported to develop and thrive.

Location: Bristol (Severnside Energy Recovery Centre)
    Salary: £52,704 – £58,199
Benefits include: company car OR car allowance (up to £8,655.92 per annum), Up to 10% annual bonus, Company pension (5% employer contribution), Call-out allowance (£250 per week), 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, Sick pay, and additional benefits

    What Will I Be Doing?

    * Lead and supervise the EC&I maintenance technician team, including day-to-day management, performance reviews, training, and skills development (particularly DCS/SCADA).

    * Own the DCS system – maintenance, modifications, upgrades, and integration of new equipment.

    * Provide specialist technical support for complex fault diagnosis, plant improvement projects, and optimisation initiatives, including boiler chemistry and safety-critical systems (SIF/SIL).

    * Plan and deliver EC&I shutdowns, manage specialist contractors, and ensure robust service contracts.

    * Form part of the 24-hour call-out rota (call out is 1 week in 4) and deputise for the Maintenance Manager when required.

    What Are the Requirements?

    * Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering plus completion of a relevant engineering apprenticeship.

    * 7–10 years’ maintenance engineering experience in process, power generation, steam-raising, or heavy industrial environments.

    * Extensive knowledge of DCS, SCADA, and PLC platforms (evidenced by OEM or training provider certification).

    * Proven leadership skills and experience managing or supervising technical teams.

    * Understanding of EfW processes and a commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

If you’re ready to take ownership, mentor others, and make a tangible impact on the UK’s journey to net zero, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and help us build a cleaner, more sustainable future together.
