How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Morgan McKinley Northern Home Counties are representing a well-established engineering and industrial services business based in Leicester in their search for a Finance Manager.

    The Role

    Reporting directly to the Managing Directors, the Finance Manager will oversee the finance function across two operating businesses, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance and commercial support to the wider business.

    The successful candidate will inherit a well-established finance operation and will be encouraged to identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting and support strategic decision-making.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Preparation of monthly management accounts.
    Weekly and monthly financial reporting to senior management and group stakeholders.
    Managing VAT returns and statutory compliance requirements.
    Overseeing payroll processes.
    Balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close activities.
    Cashflow monitoring and forecasting.
    Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
    Producing insightful financial analysis and management information.
    Liaising with external accountants, auditors and group finance teams.
    Managing and developing an Accounts Assistant.
    Identifying and implementing process improvements across the finance function.

    Candidate Profile

    Essential Requirements:

    Previous experience within a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar role.
    Strong working knowledge of Sage 50.
    Experience producing management accounts.
    Payroll, VAT and statutory accounting experience.
    Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with senior stakeholders.
    Hands-on approach and willingness to operate within an SME environment.

    Desirable

    AAT Qualified, Part-Qualified ACCA/CIMA, or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
    Experience within engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or technical environments.
    Exposure to group reporting structures.
    Experience using reporting tools such as Cognos.
