How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Project: Neu Connect Project

    Location: Wallend Substation, Kent (ME3 Area)
    Start Date: 8th July 2026
    Duration: Until 31st March 2027
    Hours: 50 Hours Per Week
    Shifts: 10 Hours Per Day
    Contract Type: LTD Company / Outside IR35
    Sector: HVDC / National Grid / Substation Infrastructure

    After 37 Hours & First 4 Hours Saturday
    £41.95 per hour
    After 4 Hours Saturday / Sunday / Bank Holidays

    The Opportunity:
    We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Chargehand to join a major HVDC and transmission infrastructure project in Kent.
    Working on the Neu Connect project, you will be responsible for leading mechanical installation activities within a live construction environment, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
    This is a long-term opportunity on one of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure schemes, offering stable work through to March 2027.

    Key Responsibilities:
    * Lead and coordinate mechanical installation teams on site
    * Ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with project procedures
    * Support Site Supervisors and Site Management with daily activities
    * Complete task cards, quality documentation and installation records
    * Review upcoming works and ensure drawings, materials and resources are available
    * Coordinate with other work parties to ensure safe and efficient project delivery
    * Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
    * Participate in toolbox talks, site briefings and safety initiatives
    * Monitor progress and identify potential programme risks and delay
    * Ensure compliance with client and project-specific requirements
    * Support the completion of quality, inspection and commissioning documentation
    * Assist with inspections, testing and verification activities where required

    Essential Requirements:
    * National Grid Person
    * GIS Substation Experience
    * Roto Telehandler Ticket
    * Lift Supervisor
    * Appointed Person / Slinger Signaller
    * CSCS Card or CCNSG Safety Passport
    * SSSTS
    * Manual Handling
    * NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Qualification or recognised apprenticeship
    * Minimum 2 years' experience within the Electricity Supply Industry, Power Generation, Oil & Gas or major industrial construction environments
    * Previous experience leading mechanical installation teams
    * Previous experience working on National Grid, SSE, SPEN or transmission infrastructure projects
    * HVDC, converter station or major substation construction experience
