Key Responsibilities
Specialist Flooring Installation: Install a wide range of domestic and commercial flooring, with a heavy focus on vinyl, safety flooring (Altro, Polyflor, etc.), and lino in bathrooms and wet rooms.
Cove Former Flooring: Expertly install cove formers and capping strips to create seamless, hygienic, and watertight floor-to-wall transitions-essential for assisted living environments and wet rooms.
Preparation & Subfloor Work: Assess, prepare, and level subfloors using appropriate screeds, smoothing compounds, and ply-boarding prior to installation.
Responsive Repairs & Voids: Carry out patch repairs or full floor replacements in both tenanted properties (reactive maintenance) and empty properties (voids) to tight turnaround times.
Assisted Living Adaptations: Work closely with the adaptations team to install specialized slip-resistant flooring designed for elderly, disabled, or vulnerable residents.
Customer Care: Deliver excellent customer service, respecting residents' homes, minimizing disruption, and communicating clearly regarding work progress and drying times.
Health & Safety: Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring strict adherence to COSHH regulations (adhesives, primers) and correct use of PPE.Person Specification: Experience & QualificationsEssential Criteria:
Proven Experience: Demonstrable history as a professional Floor Layer, specifically within the social housing, local authority, or care/assisted living sectors.
Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in cutting, welding (hot and cold), and laying safety vinyl, with specific, hands-on experience in cove forming and capping.
Bathroom/Wet Room Specialist: Prior experience working on level-access showers and wet room flooring adaptations.
Driving License: Full UK Driving License (a company vehicle is typically provided)
