Most firms measure success by output. This one measures it by how much impact you’ve had on the Fire Industry. If that distinction means something to you then this could be the opportunity for you.
Everything this company has built: the processes, the training infrastructure and technical reputation, has been funded by reinvesting profit back into the firm rather than extracting it as a deliberate philosophy.
Their Manchester office is growing and they are looking for a senior engineer who wants to be part of shaping that, not just occupying a seat in it.
The investment in you
* Over £20k Per person, per year training investment
* 20% of working time dedicated to development
* 3 years structured development roadmap from day one
* In-house CPD programmes, free and accredited
The training infrastructure here is unlike anything else in the sector. The firm has built its own proprietary CPD content with factory visits and live experiments, all IFE-accredited and made freely available. Engineers here help shape the Fire industry itself.
Chartership is actively reviewed and mentored by Engineers that sit on chartership panels professionally. If you are working towards IFE registration, this is the environment for that progress to accelerate.
The Role
This firm doesn’t just deliver PAS 9980 assessments and move on. The technical scope here runs from residential fire safety engineering and external wall assessment through to nuclear energy facilities, expert witness work for litigation, and performance-based fire engineering for complex structures that many major consultancies are simply not able to take on.
The external wall and remediation work sits ahead of current legislation, anticipating where the regulatory framework is heading and positioning clients in front of it. Requiring engineers that genuinely understand fire science.
What They're Looking For
At least five years of fire engineering experience, with a BSc, MSc or PhD in an engineering or science subject. Registration with the IFE is preferred, or active progress towards it. The firm also considers engineers from adjacent technical backgrounds where the underlying science is strong, such as a prior degree in chemistry, mechanical or structural engineering, physics because the right thinking is more important than a specific title.
Experience across fire safety strategy, performance-based design, fire and evacuation modelling, and the ability to manage and develop other engineers. You should be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and willing to travel for site visits and client work.
The salary conversation is honest and straightforward, this is not a firm that plays games with offers.
