How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

    Urgently needed for September Start.

Are you due to graduate from university soon?
Have you studied Psychology or Criminology and are considering a career in education?
Looking for flexible full-time or part-time work around your studies?
Interested in school hours of 8:30am – 3:30pm?
Would you like to use your degree to support pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs?
Interested in earning between £92.56 – £108.56 per day?

Vision for Education Cardiff is currently recruiting Psychology and Criminology graduates to support schools across the Newport area. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain hands-on experience within education, child development, behaviour support, mental health or additional learning needs (ALN).

The role involves supporting primary-aged pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Schools are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting young people.

You will work with pupils with a range of additional learning and behavioural needs, including:

    Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
    Cerebral Palsy
    Down’s Syndrome
    Sensory Processing Difficulties
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Your responsibilities will include building positive relationships with pupils, supporting wellbeing and behaviour strategies, recognising behavioural patterns, and encouraging engagement with learning activities and classroom routines.

Whether you have recently graduated or are currently completing a degree in Psychology or Criminology, we have immediate opportunities available as well as positions starting in September. These roles are particularly well suited to individuals with an understanding of behaviour, mental health and child psychology.

If you are considering a future career in education, educational psychology, counselling, social work, youth work or care, this role provides valuable practical experience within a supportive school environment while allowing you to make a genuine difference to children’s lives.

    Working alongside us:

    Competitive daily pay of £92.56 – £108.56
    Full-time and part-time opportunities available
    School hours of 8:30am – 3:30pm
Long-term placements with opportunities for permanent school contracts
Access to free and heavily discounted CPD-accredited training courses
Holiday pay and auto-enrolment into a company pension scheme

To work through us, you will need:

A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
A willingness to apply your academic knowledge in an educational setting
An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one – we can assist with this)
Completion of our free safeguarding training
The Right to Work in the UK
A valid overseas police check if you have lived abroad for more than six months within the last five years
We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in:
