How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Maintenance Engineer - Food Manufacturing

    Location: Scunthorpe
    Salary: £45,000 + Overtime (1.5x)
    Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (Days & Nights)
    Hours: 12-hour shifts

    The Opportunity

    An established food manufacturing company in the Scunthorpe area is looking to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced production environment, supporting the reliability and performance of a wide range of processing and packaging equipment.

    Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance activities, helping to minimise downtime and drive continuous improvement across the site.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out maintenance tasks and breakdown repairs on a range of food processing machinery.
    Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.
    Conduct machinery repairs, upgrades and modifications.
    Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and report findings.
    Accurately record all maintenance activities using the site's CMMS system.
    Identify spare parts requirements and liaise with the engineering purchasing function.
    Support continuous improvement initiatives and equipment reliability projects.
    Work closely with production teams to ensure maximum equipment availability.

    Equipment Involved

    You will be working on a variety of production equipment including:

    Filling machinery
    Pumps
    Spiral freezers
    Steam processing equipment
    Product inspection systems
    Depositing equipment

    Candidate Requirements

    NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline.
    Multi-skilled maintenance experience with both mechanical and electrical fault-finding capabilities.
    Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, packaging or automated production environments is desirable.
    Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
    Ability to work effectively as part of a shift engineering team.
