How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Year 6 Teaching Assistant (Temp-to-Perm Contract)

    About the Role

    Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated, proactive, and resilient Year 6 Teaching Assistant for a fantastic primary school located on the outskirts of Wigan. This is a full-time position starting in September 2026, offering a highly sought-after temp-to-perm contract-meaning the school is looking for a long-term team member to transition onto a permanent school contract.

    Year 6 is a crucial milestone year for pupils as they navigate SATs preparation and the transition to secondary school. In this role, you will be pivotal in providing the academic, social, and emotional scaffolding these pupils need to thrive.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions to small groups and on a 1:1 basis.

    Support the classroom teacher with SATs preparation, tracking progress, and boosting pupil confidence.

    Assist with classroom management, creating a focused and positive learning environment.

    Support pupils with diverse learning needs, including SEND or those requiring emotional support.

    Help prepare the class for the exciting transition to high school.

    Requirements

    Previous experience supporting Key Stage 2 (KS2) pupils, ideally within Year 6.

    Strong literacy and numeracy skills (to confidently support the Year 6 curriculum).

    A calm, encouraging, and firm-but-fair approach to behaviour management.

    An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for a new one through Tradewind).

    Legal right to work in the UK
