Role Purpose
The Maintenance Manager leads the Maintenance Department, providing strategic direction to improve reliability, performance, and operational excellence. The role is responsible for developing a high-performing maintenance team, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring alignment with site objectives and engineering best practice.
Working closely with the Plant Manager and regional Operations & Engineering teams, the Maintenance Manager will deliver sustainable reliability improvements, optimise maintenance strategies, manage departmental budgets, and contribute to achieving site KPIs.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for the Maintenance Department in line with site objectives.

Lead, coach and develop Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians to achieve high performance.
*
Promote a strong health, safety and compliance culture across all maintenance activities.
*
Drive continuous improvement through reliability initiatives, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and best practice maintenance techniques.
*
Improve equipment reliability by developing TPM, PM and predictive maintenance strategies.
*
Maximise the effectiveness of the CMMS to improve planning, reduce reactive maintenance and enhance asset performance.
*
Identify and deliver cost-saving, efficiency and reliability improvement opportunities.
*
Develop maintenance budgets, CAPEX proposals and long-term asset improvement plans.
*
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and other business functions to implement new standards and technologies.
*
Ensure maintenance teams are appropriately trained, competent and engaged.
*
Monitor departmental KPIs and provide regular performance updates to the Plant Manager.
*
Represent the site at engineering and continuous improvement forums when required.
*
Support business needs through flexibility in working hours and additional responsibilities where appropriate.
Qualifications
*
Engineering qualification or equivalent relevant industry experience.
Experience & Knowledge
*
Minimum five years' experience in a senior maintenance leadership role, including managing managers.
*
Proven success leading maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.
*
Strong knowledge of TPM, PPM, CBM, RCM and reliability-centred maintenance principles.
*
Experience driving continuous improvement and implementing preventative maintenance strategies.
*
Strong understanding of CMMS systems; SAP experience preferred.
*
Experience managing maintenance stores, inventory and asset management.
*
Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering and maintenance challenges.

Salary description
£55000.00 - £70000.00 per year
