How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Join a High-Performing Manufacturing Team

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Production Controller to join one of our key manufacturing clients based in Fareham. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence by coordinating production activities, managing material availability, and driving on-time delivery performance.

As Production Controller, you will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and optimising production workflows to ensure customer orders are delivered on time, in full, and to the highest quality standards. You will take ownership of material and production shortages, working cross-functionally to resolve issues quickly and maintain efficient manufacturing operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Production Planning & Delivery Excellence

Work closely with Planning teams to develop and optimise production schedules that consistently meet customer delivery requirements.

Coordinate with Procurement, Planning, and Programme teams to ensure material availability aligns with production demand.

Assess manufacturing capacity, resource availability, and machine capability to maintain an efficient and balanced production plan.

Identify potential constraints and material shortages early, implementing proactive solutions to protect production output and customer commitments.

    Shortage Management & Operational Recovery

Lead the end-to-end management of material shortages, ensuring issues are identified, communicated, and resolved efficiently.

Collaborate with Procurement, Suppliers, Planning, and Production teams to minimise disruption and maintain operational continuity.

Maintain accurate shortage tracking systems, including ownership, corrective actions, and recovery dates.

Escalate critical supply risks when required and coordinate contingency plans to safeguard delivery performance.

Analyse recurring shortages and implement long-term corrective actions to strengthen supply chain resilience.

    Shop Floor & Production Coordination

Monitor production progress and work-in-progress (WIP), driving timely completion of ageing jobs and reducing bottlenecks.

Ensure Month-on-Month (MoM) bookings and job closures are accurately maintained.

Support the Production Manager in prioritising workloads, optimising labour deployment, and maximising machine utilisation.

Ensure all production documentation, including routings, travellers, drawings, specifications, revisions, and job amendments, is accurate and readily available.

Act as the key communication link between Planning and Production, providing visibility of priorities, shortages, and recovery plans.

    Data Management, Analysis & Reporting

Maintain the accuracy and integrity of ERP/MRP data, including BOMs, routings, lead times, order status, and material availability.

Produce regular performance and shortage reports to support operational decision-making.

Keep the order book updated with current production status, risks, and recovery actions.

Analyse operational trends and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigate risks.

    Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

Ensure all planning and production control activities comply with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Support NCR investigations and corrective actions where material shortages impact product quality or operational performance.

Operate in accordance with company procedures, ISO standards, and customer-specific requirements.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, delivery performance, and supply chain reliability.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential Experience

Proven experience in Production Planning, Production Control, Scheduling, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems; experience with Syspro or SAP would be highly advantageous.

Demonstrated experience managing material shortages and implementing effective recovery plans.

Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.

    Desirable Experience

Experience within filtration, engineered components, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Experience working within an ISO-regulated environment.

    Qualifications

Minimum of 3–5 years' experience within a production, planning, or manufacturing environment.

    Personal Attributes

Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.

Positive and proactive approach to improving processes and working practices.

Flexible, adaptable, and collaborative team player.

    Strong questioning and investigative mindset.

Able to perform effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.

Results-driven with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and customer expectations.

    Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected and growing manufacturing organisation where you can make a genuine impact on operational performance. You'll work with a supportive team, enjoy an excellent work-life balance with an early finish every Friday, and play a key role in delivering excellence to customers.

If this role sounds of interest I would love to hear from you.
