How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    System Support Engineer

    Location: Head Office & Client Sites Across the UK

    Salary: Competitive + Overtime + On-Call Allowances + Excellent Benefits

    Construkt RS is proud to be partnering with a leading control systems engineering business that is looking to add a talented System Support Engineer to its growing team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in control systems, PLCs, electrical fault finding, and industrial automation to join a highly respected organisation that offers genuine career development, flexible working, profit share bonuses, and industry-leading employee benefits.

    The successful candidate will become part of a specialist System Support Team responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance services to a diverse client base across the UK. The role offers a great mix of office-based support, site-based engineering work, fault finding, system optimisation, and customer interaction.

    The Role

    As a System Support Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical control systems for a range of industrial clients.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Providing technical support to customers, diagnosing and resolving control system issues to minimise operational downtime.

    * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, and system audits.

    * Performing electrical and software fault finding across PLC, SCADA, HMI, and associated control systems.

    * Supporting system upgrades, modifications, and optimisation projects to improve reliability and efficiency.

    * Maintaining accurate technical documentation, service reports, and system records.

    * Delivering training and support to end users and site personnel where required.

    * Working closely with engineering teams and customers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

    The position will be primarily based from the company's head office; however, regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK will be required.

    What We're Looking For

    We are keen to speak with engineers who have experience within industrial automation, controls, electrical engineering, or similar environments.

    Candidates should ideally possess:

    * A full UK driving licence.

    * Previous experience supporting, maintaining, or commissioning control systems.

    * Strong electrical fault-finding abilities.

    * Experience with PLC programming, including Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text.

    * Familiarity with SCADA and HMI systems.

    * Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, or similar.

    * Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers and colleagues.

    * The ability to work independently whilst also contributing as part of a wider engineering team.

    Our client recognises that no candidate will tick every box and is committed to providing ongoing training, mentoring, and development to help bridge any skill gaps.

    Working Hours & On-Call

    The company operates a flexible working policy with a standard 40-hour working week.

    Core office hours are:

    * Monday to Thursday: 09:30 – 16:00

    * Friday: Early finish at 13:00 (subject to workload)

    Due to the nature of the role, a reasonable amount of overtime, night work, and occasional weekend work will be required.

    Following successful completion of probation and training, engineers will join the on-call rota:

    * 1 week in every 4 on-call

    * £100 standby payment per week

    * Additional overtime payments for call-outs attended

    There is also an opportunity to participate in a London support rota:

    * Accommodation provided in London

    * Additional £500 per week payment whilst covering the rota

    What's In It For You?

    This is a business that genuinely values work-life balance and employee wellbeing. In return, you can expect:

    Flexible working hours

    Flexible holiday allowance

    Your birthday off every year with full pay

    Enhanced sick pay

    Company pension contributions

    £500 annual lifestyle allowance to spend on activities with friends and family

    Employee wellbeing programme with 24/7 support and advice services
