How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Third Age Trust is looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to lead and develop our digital marketing function at an important point in our development.

    This is a key role within the Marketing team, responsible for managing our digital marketing workplan, website and digital campaign activity. You will help strengthen the u3a brand, improve the performance of our digital channels, and support our work to grow awareness, engagement and membership.

    u3a is a UK-wide movement of more than 430,000 members who come together to learn, laugh and live. Our members are part of a federated network of local u3as, supported by the Third Age Trust as the national body. Together, we help people stay active, connected, curious and involved in later life.

    We are looking for someone who combines strong website and CMS management experience with broader digital marketing expertise across paid social, SEO, e-CRM/email marketing systems, analytics and campaign delivery. You will be confident using data and insight to improve digital performance, user journeys and conversion.

    You will lead the development, management and optimisation of the national u3a website, ensuring it is accessible, audience-led, up to date and aligned with the u3a brand. You will also plan and manage integrated digital marketing activity across website, paid social, SEO, e-CRM/email marketing systems, campaign landing pages and analytics.

    Working closely with the Communications team, you will help ensure that content is presented effectively online, reaches the right audiences and supports communications, PR, member engagement and campaign priorities.

    We are looking for a strong team player who can bring clarity, structure and good judgement. You will be strategic but hands-on, able to set direction, make day-to-day decisions, solve problems and model digital best practice for colleagues. You will be comfortable working with communications, membership, IT, volunteers, suppliers and senior stakeholders.

    You will bring:

    * Significant experience of managing and improving a large website or digital platform through a CMS;

    * Strong digital marketing experience across website optimisation, SEO, paid social, e-CRM/email marketing systems and campaign landing pages;

    * Experience of managing a digital marketing workplan or function;

    * Experience of planning, managing and evaluating digital campaigns;

    * Experience of setting and monitoring digital KPIs and using insight to improve performance;

    * Experience of managing suppliers, agencies, freelancers or developers;

    * Strong project management, stakeholder management and communication skills;

    * The ability to model best practice and support colleagues to improve digital content, user journeys and campaign performance.
