How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching & Learning

Plan and deliver comprehensive, high-quality English lessons tailored to the needs of learners across KS3 and KS4.

Utilise innovative teaching methods to inspire student curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for reading and writing.

Assess student progress, maintain accurate performance records, and provide constructive feedback to support academic development.

    Departmental Leadership & Support

Support the Head of English in the strategic running, management, and leadership of the department.

Assist in designing, developing, and reviewing an engaging, high-impact English curriculum.

Lead on specific key stages, areas of the curriculum, or departmental initiatives (e.g., literacy intervention, KS3 coordination, or exam preparation).

Mentor, coach, and collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and foster a highly cohesive, supportive learning community.

Deputise for the Head of Department when required, including leading team meetings and managing departmental resources.

    Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes in English at KS3 and KS4.

Experience-or a clear readiness-to take on leadership responsibilities, mentor staff, and drive curriculum development.

Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).

Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Deep passion for education and a firm commitment to student success and inclusivity.

    Benefits:

Competitive weekly pay (Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale + TLR potential from day 1).

Opportunity to participate in our holiday scheme for flexible pay options.

High potential for long-term or permanent placement within a thriving school environment.

Extensive professional development opportunities and ongoing support from our experienced team.

Streamlined registration process with Tradewind, including full assistance with DBS and references in line with KCSIE guidelines.

    How to Apply:
