How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Help us to make a world of difference

Urenco is a global leader in the production of low carbon energy. We work at the cutting edge of the transition to a sustainable, net zero world.

We’re looking for a Senior Process Engineer. Based at our Capenhurst site you’ll provide professional technical input to process engineering activities for the business units at the Capenhurst site. To look to continuously improve aspects of the business within your remit. To effectively communicate detailed information related to specific work packages to a range of stakeholders and provide specialist engineering advice to the wider business. To lead delivery of both major projects and smaller packages of work; producing deliverables as well as leading teams of engineers to deliver high quality, fit for purpose engineering solutions that you will then be responsible for approving. To work independently to scope packages of work and determine appropriate deliverables and delivery routes, and to work proactively to ensure that emergent issues are appropriately managed.

At Urenco we’re committed to giving you opportunities to be your best. If you feel you meet some, but not all of what we're looking for, please still apply. We believe in embracing the passion and potential of our people, and to achieve this we offer market leading training and development experiences. Along with the opportunity to be mentored and coached by some of the smartest minds in the industry.

    What you’ll do:

Producing and managing the production of engineering deliverables in accordance with specified standards, UUK design procedures, safety case and nuclear site license requirements.
Developing, reviewing and approving achievable project plans and schedules such that the proposed packages of work can be effectively delivered to time and schedule.
Providing routine updates on the status of deliverables.
Approving engineering deliverables within your area of delegated authority
Specifying and accepting activities and deliverables from contractors, to ensure work is carried out to specification, on time and compliant with UUK procedures.
Approving deliverables within the scope of your delegated authority.
Identification of solutions to technical problems encountered on site, and ensuring these are controlled and managed to an appropriate standard
Producing change management documentation and providing technical review of others’ change management documents ensuring the full impact of changes are considered
Monitoring the performance and condition of assets on site, and taking action where required to ensure these are appropriately managed to support continued operation in line with the site asset management plan.
Striving to improve the performance of UUK assets through sound management and implementation of good engineering practises
Acting as Subject Matter Expert for defined areas of responsibility.
Providing concise technical input into forums as required, and make decisions within area of expertise
    ·         Acting as project owner for packages of work and major projects that impact the assets you have responsibility for.
What do you need to thrive in this role?

Experience in a regulated industry, for example energy, chemicals or pharmaceuticals.
Experience in delivery of design packages through all phases of their lifecycle
Experience of supervising managing staff/agency resources
Thorough knowledge of up to date industrial practices related to discipline-specific engineering, including safety through design.
Good understanding of other Engineering disciplines, technologies, plant systems and processes that are present in Urenco.
Knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
Excellent IT skills including Windows and Microsoft applications, Documentum and SAP.
Ability to use or learn to use specialist software packages (e.g. system modeling packages).
Capable of producing high quality technical documentation including functional and technical specifications and project documentation.
Ability to maintain and develop own technical knowledge to ensure the best, cost effective and safe solutions are proposed and implemented.
Ability to assess problems, feasibility and develop practical solutions.
Skilled in exercising authority in the control of contractors and suppliers.
    ·         Excellent communication, reporting, presentation, negotiation and customer facing skills.

What can you expect from us?

More than just a job, we offer a future. More than just a place to work, we provide an opportunity to prosper.  As an employee of Urenco you will receive:

Annual leave starting at 25 days, which increases by one day for every two years of service up to a maximum of 30 days. In addition, you will accrue 13 additional days off to be used flexibly. There’s also a newly added scheme for buying and selling holiday, up to 5 days.
A diverse range of family friendly policies.
    A generous bonus scheme.
A defined contribution pension scheme; with up to 16% employer’s contribution.
Single private medical and dental cover.
Flexible benefits package; including life assurance and income protection. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase additional benefits that suit your lifestyle and take advantage of tax and NI savings.
Education and training; we take pride in helping people learn and develop by supporting, accelerating and directing your learning. As well as the completion of mandatory health and safety courses, training packages will be offered to meet your specific needs.
    Security vetting

Due to the nature of the industry that Urenco operates in, all personnel regardless of employment status working for Urenco are required to obtain security clearance at the level required for their role. Security clearances are assessed in accordance with regulations and official guidance issued by the relevant competent authorities for national security vetting. In certain circumstances, additional enhanced security clearance considerations apply to roles within Urenco owing to the particular activities that the Urenco Group undertakes in relation to uranium enrichment. Successful candidates will need to satisfy security requirements, and all offers of appointment are made subject to the successful approval of all checks initiated.
