How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Looking to Build a Career in Construction?

    Are you ambitious, motivated and looking for a career rather than just a job?

    Our client, a successful and growing specialist contractor operating within the highways, surfacing and civil engineering sectors, is looking to recruit a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Hoo, Kent.

    This is an outstanding opportunity for a school leaver, college leaver, apprentice or someone looking to begin a long-term career within construction. Full training, mentoring and career development will be provided by experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers.

    No previous Quantity Surveying experience is required – just the right attitude and willingness to learn.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    Working alongside experienced commercial professionals, you will gain hands-on experience in:

    Assisting with cost estimates and tender submissions

    Measuring and valuing completed works

    Supporting applications for payment and final accounts

    Monitoring project costs and budgets

    Obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations

    Assisting with procurement activities

    Maintaining commercial records and project documentation

    Attending site visits and carrying out measurements

    Learning contract administration and cost management processes

    Working closely with operational and site teams

    What We're Looking For:

    Strong numerical skills

    Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel

    Excellent attention to detail

    Good communication skills

    Positive attitude and eagerness to learn

    Reliable and professional approach

    Ability to work as part of a team

    Full UK Driving Licence or currently learning to drive
