How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor – Water Services Projects

    Location: Bristol
    Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + package
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    Our client is a specialist contractor delivering water services and infrastructure-related projects across the South West. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Bristol.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to develop within a specialist contractor working on varied water, utilities and civil engineering-related schemes.

    The Role

    As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from initial tender stage through to final account.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Preparing and reviewing project costings, estimates and tender submissions

    * Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documentation

    * Managing project budgets, forecasts and cost reports

    * Preparing valuations and applications for payment

    * Managing compensation events, variations and change control

    * Supporting procurement of materials, subcontractor packages and specialist services

    * Assessing subcontractor applications, payments and final accounts

    * Liaising with clients, project managers, site teams, suppliers and subcontractors

    * Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery

    * Assisting with final accounts and commercial close-out

    * Attending site and project meetings as required

    The Candidate

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    * Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Engineer

    * Experience within water, utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure or specialist contracting would be advantageous

    * NEC contract knowledge or experience preferred, although this is not essential

    * Strong commercial awareness and good numerical skills

    * Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical information

    * Good communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills

    * Competence with Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting

    * A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or Construction

    * A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to project sites when required
