How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client, a leading organisation at the forefront of Ireland's transport and infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves working across major rail, light rail, and wider transport infrastructure projects, driving safety excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

    Key Responsibilities:

Lead and promote a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture across major rail, light rail, and transport infrastructure programmes.
Provide expert H&S leadership to project managers, engineering teams, contractors, and client stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure compliance with Irish rail industry legislation, construction regulations, and client-specific safety requirements.
Support the safe planning and delivery of works within operational railway and light rail environments.
Review and assure contractors' Construction Stage Plans, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, and site-specific risk assessments.
Monitor safety performance across projects through inspections, audits, behavioural observations, and assurance reviews.
Lead investigations into incidents, close calls, and safety observations, ensuring root causes are identified and lessons are learned.
Engage with client organisations, infrastructure managers, operators, contractors, and regulators on safety-related matters.

    Job Requirements:

    Essential:

Experience managing health and safety within rail, light rail, metro, or major transportation infrastructure projects.
Understanding of safety requirements associated with operational railway environments, construction delivery on live infrastructure, and possession planning and access arrangements.
Experience supporting multidisciplinary rail projects involving civil engineering, track, stations, signalling, electrification, or systems works.
Strong knowledge of construction and infrastructure health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
Experience undertaking contractor assurance, site inspections, and project safety audits.

    Highly Desirable:

Experience on major rail enhancement, electrification, metro, commuter rail, light rail, or station upgrade programmes.
Familiarity with Common Safety Method (CSM) principles, railway assurance processes, or infrastructure operator standards.
Experience working within NEC contract environments.
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered IOSH status (or working towards).

    Benefits:

    Competitive salary
Opportunity to work on a variety of high-profile rail and infrastructure projects
    Professional development and training opportunities
    Supportive and collaborative work environment
    Comprehensive employee benefits package
