How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Risk Engineer - Electrical Infrastructure (Renewables)

    Central London | Hybrid (3 days p/w in office) ✈️ International Travel | £55,000-£60,000

Matchtech are seeking a Risk Engineer on behalf of a Global Leader in Commercial & Speciality insurance as they grow their UK Risk Engineering Team.

Known for its technical, engineering‑led approach and international footprint, the business partners with clients across power, energy, and large‑scale infrastructure. They're now seeking a Risk Engineer with strong electrical engineering foundations to support risk assessments across a diverse global portfolio.

    What You'll Be Doing

Conducting technical risk assessments across electrical infrastructure assets, power systems, and complex industrial environments.
Travelling internationally to perform on‑site evaluations across multiple continents
Producing clear, high‑quality engineering reports to support underwriting decisions
Engaging directly with clients, operators, and internal stakeholders to understand operational
    risk.
Reviewing electrical systems, HV/LV equipment, substations, and grid‑connected assets
Supporting the wider risk engineering team on cross‑sector projects, including renewables where relevant

    What You'll Bring:

A strong foundation in Electrical Engineering (degree or equivalent experience)
    Experience from:Grid Operators

    DNOs / Electrical Infrastructure

    Power Generation Environments

Hands‑on exposure to electrical systems, substations, power plants, or similar operational environments
The ability to translate technical detail into clear, commercially relevant insights
Comfort with international travel and client‑facing work
Renewables experience (Solar, Wind, BESS etc) is a bonus, but not essential

    Who This Role Suits

This is ideal for someone who enjoys technical engineering but wants broader exposure than a traditional site‑based role. You'll thrive here if you're analytical, inquisitive, and excited by the idea of seeing infrastructure projects around the world.

Engineers from grid, DNO, power plant, or electrical infrastructure backgrounds tend to transition extremely well
