How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Plumber

    Location: Hebburn, South Tyneside

Agency: Search Consultancy (Construction & Trades Division)

Payment Terms: Up to £48.00 per hour (CIS / Subcontractor Basis, Weekly Pay)

Start Date: Immediate (Subject to reference and credential verification)

Project Environment: Live Construction Site (Care Home Development)

    The Opportunity

Search Consultancy's Construction and Trades Division is currently partnering with a premier mechanical services subcontractor to recruit a time-served, highly skilled Commercial Plumber for an active, large-scale care home construction project located in Hebburn.

This is a live, fast-paced commercial construction site, offering an immediate start and an exceptional, tiered overtime pay structure. The project is currently moving through critical installation phases, demanding an operative who can hit the ground running, work efficiently to mechanical specifications, and maintain high production rates alongside other site trades. For a reliable, local plumber looking to maximise their earning potential through lucrative weekend and overtime rates, this position provides an outstanding project deployment in South Tyneside.

    Lucrative Tiered Remuneration (CIS)

This project features an excellent premium pay structure to reward hard work, extended midweek hours, and weekend shifts. All rates are paid gross on a subcontractor basis:

Basic Rate (First 37 Midweek Hours): £24.00 per hour

    Time-and-a-Half Rate: £36.00 per hour

Applies to midweek hours 38 to 51

Applies to all weekend shifts worked

Double-Time Rate (All Hours worked after 51): £48.00 per hour

Payment Frequency: Processed accurately every single Friday via our dedicated payroll desk, ensuring reliable weekly cash flow with zero hidden administrative or umbrella fees.

    Comprehensive Key Responsibilities

Operating within a busy commercial site footprint, your daily schedule will demand high efficiency, technical competence, and seamless collaboration with site management and the mechanical foreman. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

First & Second Fix Installations: Installing commercial plumbing systems, including copper and plastic pipework, soil and waste systems, sanitary ware, and drainage configurations across individual resident rooms and communal facility blocks.

Plant Room & System Rough-Ins: Assisting with the installation of commercial heating systems, hot and cold water distribution loops, plant room pipework, and booster sets.

Thermostatic Control Installation: Fitting and configuring Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) and modern healthcare-spec brassware according to strict project design layouts.

Technical Blueprint Reading: Interpreting complex mechanical drawings, schematic layouts, and technical specifications to measure, route, and bracket pipework accurately and efficiently.

Testing & Commissioning Preparation: Conducting pressure testing of installations, systematically identifying and resolving any leaks or pressure drops prior to second-fix closures.

Health & Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to site safety protocols, maintaining a clean and organised working bay, managing materials efficiently to reduce waste, and working safely alongside other active trades.

    Rigid Candidate Requirements

To maintain the high standards required on this project, candidates must explicitly meet the following criteria prior to deployment:

Valid Certification: Must hold a valid CSCS card (Skilled Worker preferred) or a JIB-PMES registration card. This is mandatory for site access and will be verified beforehand.

Industry Experience: A proven, demonstrable track record working as a commercial plumber on live construction sites, new build developments, or large-scale commercial fit-outs.

Qualifications: Time-served or relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds qualifications in Plumbing and Domestic/Commercial Heating.

Complete Trade Kit: Possession of a full, professional kit of hand tools, testing equipment, and cordless power tools suitable for commercial construction installations.

Full 5-Point PPE: Ownership of standard site protective equipment (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, steel toe-cap boots with adequate ankle support, protective gloves, and safety glasses).

Professional References: Ability to provide the contact details of a recent Site Manager, mechanical foreman, or supervisor who can verify your quality of work, speed, and attendance.

Right to Work: Verifiable right to work within the United Kingdom.

    Why Partner with Search Consultancy?

Premium Weekend & Overtime Rewards: A transparent, tiered pay structure that heavily rewards extra hours and weekend work, allowing you to earn top-tier rates locally.

Local Commute: Centrally located in Hebburn, offering an easy commute for tradespeople across South Tyneside, Gateshead, and Newcastle, keeping your travel overheads low.

The Search Pipeline: Search is a preferred labor supplier across the North East. Subcontractors who exhibit excellent reliability, punctuality, and top-tier craftsmanship are systematically prioritised for seamless transition onto subsequent long-term commercial, industrial, and mechanical contracts in the local area as existing projects close out.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
