How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for a Disabled Facilities Grants Officer to join a busy Housing Renewal and Grants team within a local authority in the Vale of Glamorgan.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced property, construction, surveying, or housing grants professional to manage Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) applications from initial survey through to completion, helping residents remain safe and independent within their homes.

    * Holton Road, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, CF63 4RU

    * £21.00 per hour (Umbrella)

    * 6-Month Contract (High Likelihood of Extension)

    * Hybrid Working – 2-3 Days per Week in the Office

    * Start ASAP

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Undertake initial grant surveys to determine eligibility and assess property conditions.

    * Advise members of the public on all aspects of housing grants and assistance available.

    * Prepare schedules of works, plans, drawings, specifications, and obtain contractor estimates.

    * Prepare and submit formal grant applications and supporting documentation.

    * Assess grant applications and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and procedures.

    * Submit applications for Building Control, Planning Permission, and other statutory approvals.

    * Supervise works on site and process interim and final grant payments.

    * Develop and manage Block Repair Schemes and provide a comprehensive agency service.

    * Carry out inspections relating to council loan applications where required.

    * Support the review and development of grant management policies and procedures.

    Essential Requirements:

    * Knowledge and experience of delivering property-related services to the public.

    * Ability to conduct property inspections and prepare technical reports and schedules of work.

    * Strong communication and customer service skills.

    * Good analytical skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

    * Full UK driving licence.
