How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Generator Engineer
    Location: Midlands (Field-Based)
    Salary: Up to £50,000 Basic + Overtime + Benefits

    A leading specialist engineering business operating within the power generation sector is seeking an experienced Generator Engineer to join its growing service team across the Midlands.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a varied field-based role, working on a wide range of diesel generators and power generation equipment while benefiting from flexible working arrangements, excellent earning potential, and long-term career development.
    As a Generator Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, repair, and fault diagnosis of diesel generators and associated equipment at customer sites throughout the region.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on generator systems.
    Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
    Servicing and maintaining diesel engines and associated equipment.
    Attending breakdowns and providing reactive support when required.
    Conducting testing, inspections, and commissioning activities.
    Producing accurate service reports and maintenance documentation.
    Delivering a high level of customer service and technical support.Candidate Requirements:

    Previous experience as a Generator Engineer, Service Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Power Generation Engineer, or similar.
    Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
    Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance.
    Knowledge of diesel engines, control systems, and power generation equipment.
    The ability to work independently and manage a field-based workload.
    A full UK driving licence.Package:
    Basic salary up to £50,000 depending on experience.
