How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the role… 

    As a Lines Craftsperson – Chargehand you will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of lines workers in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical power lines. You will be required to coordinate daily activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and providing technical support and guidance to the team.

    As a OHL Craftsperson LE1/ LE2 you will…? 

    Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of lines crafts persons (e.g., LE1, LE2), ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required standards.

    Plan and allocate tasks for the team based on project requirements, deadlines, and priority. Ensure that all necessary equipment, materials, and resources are available for each job.

    Oversee safety protocols and ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory safety requirements (e.g., National Electrical Safety Code). Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks.

    Provide hands-on technical support for complex tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power lines, transformers, and associated equipment.

    Mentor and train less experienced lines workers, providing on-the-job coaching to develop their technical skills and ensure they meet industry safety and quality standards.

    Ensure that all tasks are performed to the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Perform quality checks on completed work and sign off on job completions.

    Identify and resolve technical issues that arise in the field. Provide practical solutions to problems related to power lines, electrical systems, or equipment.

    Lead the response to power outages or faults, coordinating the team’s efforts to restore power safely and efficiently.

    Maintain accurate records of work completed, safety inspections, and equipment usage. Provide detailed reports to supervisors or project managers regarding team performance, work progress, and any issues encountered.

    Ensure that all necessary permits, documentation, and risk assessments are completed before work commences and that all work is documented correctly for compliance and reporting purposes.

    About you… 

    Journeyman certification or equivalent in electrical line work.

    Additional qualifications in leadership or supervisory training are highly desirable.

    Extensive experience as a lines craftsperson in the power industry (minimum of 5 years), with proven ability to lead teams in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power lines and systems.

    Full driving license

    Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with strong team management skills. Ability to motivate and guide a team to complete work efficiently and safely.

    Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet during emergencies or complex repairs.

    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively report to management and communicate with team members, contractors, and clients.

    Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions. Must be physically fit to handle the demands of the job.
