How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Construction

    * Location: Preston

    The Company
    A well-established regional contractor is seeking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a prestigious residential development in Preston.

    The Role
    This Assistant Quantity Surveyor position will be based full-time on a residential construction project in Preston. You will be joining an established commercial team consisting of a Senior Quantity Surveyor and a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, providing an excellent opportunity to further develop your commercial skills and progress your career.
    Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will assist with the day-to-day commercial management of the project, supporting cost control, subcontractor management and commercial reporting throughout the construction programme.

    What We’re Looking For
    • Ideally, we are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 12 to 18 months' experience within the construction sector.
    • Main Contractor experience is preferred, although candidates from other construction backgrounds will also be considered.
    • Residential sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
    • HNC, HND or Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
    • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
    • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
