How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you a hands-on engineer looking to move into technical sales?

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded UK manufacturer of specialist equipment supplied into the Food and FMCG Manufacturing Industry.

    The company has a strong name in the market, well-respected machinery, excellent aftersales service support, and a strong platform from which to develop both new and existing customer relationships.

    The Sales Engineer Role

    As Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing existing customer accounts, and supporting customers through the technical sales process.

    This is a customer-facing role involving regular travel across the UK, including planned overnight stays when required. Candidates must therefore be flexible, comfortable travelling, and happy to spend time away from home as part of the role.

    Typical responsibilities will include:

    * Developing new business opportunities across the UK

    * Managing and growing existing customer accounts

    * Carrying out on-site production demonstrations

    * Building relationships with engineering, production and senior management contacts

    * Understanding customer requirements and recommending suitable equipment solutions

    * Working closely with internal engineering, service and aftersales teams

    * Preparing quotations, proposals and sales documentation

    * Representing the business professionally during customer visits, meetings and demonstrations

    * Maintaining accurate records of activity, opportunities and pipeline progress

    What We’re Looking For

    The company is open-minded on background and will consider candidates from a range of technical, engineering and sales routes.

    You may already be working as a Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Sales Manager, Account Manager, Area Sales Manager or Business Development Manager.

    Alternatively, you may be a Service Engineer, Installation Engineer, or hands-on engineer looking to move into technical sales.

    The company is willing to provide sales development and training to support this transition, making this an ideal opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge who enjoys customer interaction and wants to build a long-term career in sales.

    Suitable backgrounds may include:

    * Hands-on engineering experience

    * Service engineering, installation or maintenance engineering

    * Machinery, equipment or capital equipment experience

    * Food, FMCG, packaging, process, production or manufacturing environments

    * Technical sales, account management or business development

    * Experience dealing with production, engineering or manufacturing customers

    Key Skills and Experience

    The successful Sales Engineer is likely to have:

    * A strong technical or engineering background

    * The ability to understand machinery, equipment or technical processes

    * Confidence communicating with customers face-to-face

    * A professional, proactive and commercially aware approach

    * The ability to manage relationships and develop new opportunities

    * Flexibility to travel regularly across the UK

    * A full UK driving licence

    Previous sales experience would be beneficial, but it is not essential if you have the right engineering background, communication skills and motivation to move into sales.

    What’s on Offer

    * Basic salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience

    * Company car

    * Commission on sales

    * Opportunity to join a respected UK manufacturer

    * Well-regarded specialist equipment

    * Strong aftersales and technical support

    * Training and development for engineers moving into sales
